Enough engine for the boat size?

Hey everyone, I have a friend who is looking at a 22 foot Chapparel Bowrider with a Merc 4.3 v6 - he's concerned that the motor might not have the power to get on plane quickly.

My experience is with the 3.0 4-banger on a much smaller boat, so I'm not sure.

Any advice to offer? Ideas on top speed?

Well, it's not the most desirable combination, but the only way to know is to test it out on the water. If it's the fuel-injected or 4bbl 4.3L, it'll have more than 200HP, so it'll still get going pretty well.

FWIW, I have looked at several different Chapparal 21 and 22' bowriders in the past few months, and all of them have had a V8.
