Engine Serial Numbers

Sorry for question overload.

Some places you see motor serial numbers shown or referenced as, for example:

5.7L (2 BBL.) GM 350 V-8 1988-1995 0B525982 - 0F600999

I read on my both OB61XXXX format

When trying to buy parts (can see my previous posts on coupler issues), I see reference to a seven digit XXXXXXX number

The 6 digit I pulled came off carbuerator cover.... I have yet to look at side of engine by starter...

What is difference between two numbers? Will I have find different 7 digit on side of engine?

They should be the same number unless the engine was changed. Use the number on the block if they are different.

Not sure if I understand your question....

What 6 digit?

The link and picture is not the same story on your previous post....

Some places they skip the first 0 in the serial number.

thanks, yes, I wasnt very clear.

The number I see has a format 0BXXXXXX (6 digits past B)...

Other places like iboats for coupler, show 7 digit serial numbers:
