Or............ you could just go out and get a few more coils and keep them in the boat!!!

Calendar age is almost irrelevent...

Coils(and other parts) on these engines actually have very few running hours on them compared to their auto couterpart.

They(coils) usually don't "go", they're a "here" or "gone" item.

I'd still troubleshoot before taking it too far from the dock.

Im old and I still work. But then again I have been rewired twice.

When my engine quit I trouble shot everything fuel,points condenser, and finally coil .changed it and happy boating ever since.
(coil was original 1976 until 2012)
