Has anyone built a box within an engine bay to cover engine and help lower the noise ? How is the venting done ? What components would be within it. I have external oil filter, bateries, fuel filter, wet exaust with diverters for throo hull. Is linning the whole engine bay with a insulator type pannels the way to go ? I have a store here that sell rolls of stuff with a foil on one side 3 x 5 ft @ $ 40.00. I think its about 3/4 " thick. For trunks and for under hoods.

Thanks.

Re: engine box

Most engine covers I have seen aren't vented but they are also open to the rear and vent to the transom/bilge.

I just made a new one for my Sylvan but didn't line it with anything - it still cuts the noise pretty good. Most of the "foil"-backed insulation I have seen so far isn't metal foil but actually reflective plastic. When I find an insulation with metal foil I will add that to my dog house.
