impressive engines, cant wait to see if they are dependable as well & I bet they will be as the industry has learned it's lessons about putting motors on the market too soon like FICHT,OPTIMAX ect..

I think that's why they fazed in the E-TECS over a couple years I think this approach will payoff big time for BRP in the future, I think things are going well for them.

In two weeks, Evinrude E-TEC will start it's 3rd year of production. That is a bit of a track record for any motor.

In my opinion, I think the E-tec is going to be a great motor, but I am also a Merc fan. The only thing I worry about with the new Verado's is that there is so many moving parts as compared to the E-tec.

Belchy

Dhadley,
true but I've read the E Tec's secret is a for the lack of better words a complicated & powerfull ECU.
& the ECU's that arent expensive are the ones that arent there like on carbed motors ..
I was talking to someone @ boatramp the other day & they mentioned payed $ 1600 for ECU for 200 EFI Merc.
My 1994 Mitsubishi truck's ECU is around 500, 2005 model's are 3 times that, get my point..
just something to consider when buying these new engines with all this technology..

Where id the under 30hp E-Tecs? It seems like they would bring them out before the bigger motors of which the sell less I would think.

Sounds like they have great faith initialy in their ECU's.
What is it a 6 or 7 year warranty?

The typical etec warranty is three years non-declining. They ran a deal this year (and others) till April 15 for a seven year non-declining for $4/hp. You could take the warranty ( I did) or have the money. As said previously, the warranty is only as good as the company that presents it, but I don't see any probs with BRP.

I would check the extended warranty, I would be willing to bet it is not from BPR. Just hope you never have to use it, I did mine several years ago and they sent an adjust from Seattle to Bellingham and he spent about 3-4 hours going through parts trying to find some reason not to have to pay for a new powerhead. The shop finally asked the guy to leave as he was really getting in thier way. They did pay, but I had to pay the sales Tax. That part was included in the littly tiny 1/32 lettering at the bottom of one of the pages.

well I am looking to repower my 18' hydro-sport fish and ski this summer. my engine of choice would be a 175 yamaha with carbs. however that motor was taken out of production in 2000. bummer.
so far in the 175 range all I have a choice of is EFI or DFI. HPDI and Opti-max is out. that tends to leave me with E-tec. I hope the 175 is avalible about the end of august:). my current 98 115 pushes it ok and I have a 225 that I am building for it but its rated for 175 and I always wanted one brand new engine :) . so sometime in late august I will be engine shopping and the E-tec sounds good.

That's one heck of a statement from an expert-rodbolt.
