I'm almost positive that is the sleeve after doing a google image search. The T-stat is wedged up underneath the opening. Are there and tricks to getting the sleeve & T-stat out? I cannot get it to move a bit.

You will be in need of parts 7 through 10 like in this link.
http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show...=230&bdesc=Thermostat+And+Housing(Easy+Drain)

You will need to clean the gasket off, Then pull/Wiggle the sleeve out with needle nose pliers, They normally work ok for me sometimes.

Do not forget to install the new cork gasket first inside the thermostat housing before the thermostat goes in.

And make sure you use a Mercruiser gasket (Number 10) Because it has the rivets needed to make for a good ground for the sensors mounted to the thermostat housing.

I got it out. I don't have new gaskets until the morning though. Is it OK to test without?
