Do I need two fuel filters?

Hi, I have a 1980 bayliner 2250 with a Volvo AQ140 engine. When I bought it, It had one of these glass in-line filters http://seachoice.com/productdetail/ProdDetail-63432.asp between the gas tank and the fuel pump. I added a spin on canister type water separating fuel filter http://seachoice.com/productdetail/ProdDetail-21718.asp between the tank and glass filter. Should I keep the glass in-line fillter, or is it no longer needed with the water separating filter before it? Thanks, Doug

Oh, I also read that there is a strainer in the fuel pump itself. Is this true? If so, could I be causing a fuel restriction with all these fuel filters? I have 3/8 i.d. fuel hose from the tank to the fuel pump, and the factory metal tubing from the pump to the carbs. The boat runs fine now, but I don't want to cause problems later on.

Re: Do I need two fuel filters?

The strainer is probably in the carb at the fuel inlet.
IMO, more fuel filters are a good thing.
I have three on my McKee and two on my Searay.
They are changed, checked, cleaned regularly (spring).
