Hello folks,

I am replacing my u-joints on a spare drive I have. When taking apart the old u-joints, what is the best way to remove the c-rings? Is there a tool that makes this a lot easier? There's a ton of videos out there showing automotive u-joints with the rings on the outside that you can get with some pliers and a screwdriver. One guy even mentioned about the other style with the c-rings on the inside, but no method on removing them.

Thanks!

I just use a small blade screwdriver or a small awl pic and wedge in-between the ring and slot and pop them out. No difference between the auto and marine

Hi , just pulled mine out to inspect as had the forum tell me to check the u-joints based on the Video I posted about engine vibration and rattle. Can you tell me how much , if any , play there was in the u-joints you are replacing?
Mine don't really seem to have any so just curious if you can really even tell when they are not being spun in an engine?
Thanks!
