Does anybody know a good cheap depth finder to buy. I just want to be able to tell how deep the water is that I am driving on. Something simple that will get the job done.

Re: depth finder

The cheapest depthfinders are the cheapest locators. I've seen them for ninerty bucks but all the gauges I've seen are over a hundred.

Re: depth finder

Do you do much fishing? Most all fish finders have a depth guage built into them. Kind of kill two birds with one stone. My Eagle has a speedo and water temp feature on it as well. They aren't super expensive I would check Cabellas etc. If you are going to spend $75.00 to 100.00 on a depth guage you might as well add a few more bucks on top of it and get a fish finder that will do a lot more for the money. It is about sixes as far as mounting either way you go. You can even mount the transducer inside so it shoots through the hull. I don't know if it is quite as effective but it is an option.
