Hi,

Putting a depth finder in my fiberglass boat. Planning on going through hull so I dont have to drill any holes. The manual says use 2-part slow cure epoxy.

So...

1. How long is slow cure? 30 min? 60 min?
2. Where/what should I get? Locally preferable.

Thanks,
Mitchell

Marine Tex, PC 7, JB (original not quick) weld. Some that sets to touch in an hour or two & cures in 24 to 48

You want a slow cure to allow air bubbles to work their was out.

The slower the better.
You need to allow the air bubbles that inevitably get mixed into the epoxy to come to the surface.
Your local hobby shop should have 60 and possibly 90 minute epoxy.
Pick up some modeling clay to form a Dam to prevent it from flowing everywhere you do not want it.

Set up the Dam.
Pour slowly in a very thin stream and let if flow by gravity into the corners, like dribbling syrup, most of the bubbles will pop during the pour.
Make a puddle, let it sit a few minutes to flow out and the bubbles to surface.

Then place the Transducer into the puddle.
Position it, tape it and weigh it in place.
Now go away and do not touch it for at least 12 hours 18-24 hours are better.

Expect to only get 20 to 30 minutes of actual working time with 60 minute epoxy at 70 degrees, less if warmer.
20 minutes is really a long time, dont rush it.
You are pouring a very thick puddle that will generate more heat in the cure than if you were gluing a couple a pieces of wood together.
The warmer it gets the faster it cures. Epoxy cures, Not dries.
