Some models and years used different plugs. Does it have a magna ignition? Most common plug for it now is the L82C which is used in place of the L4J plug that is no longer made. If the motor is a series 2000 20 HP it requires a plug called J4J which is no longer availible which cross references to a J4C plug.

My guess is the Champion L82C is the correct plug. Post your model number and if it is newer then 1975 there should be a listing for it on the internet.

L82C is correct, but you will do much better with the NGK B7HS plug. The NGK will not foul out as quickly.
