cooling a velvet drive

I am changing a mercruiser 898 from stern drive to inboard with a velvet drive. I have the power steering cooler from the 898. Is this big enough to cool the velvet? Budget you know! The plumbing looks to be no problem, I am just worried about the capacity. Where do I check the temp on the velvet?
