I just got a 1983 7.5 yachtwin xlong for my sailboat.
I saw there is a rectifier that is present only on the yachtwin, not on the others 7.5 of the same year. i suppose this might be to charge a battery!
but i have no indication about how to connect to it, and be shure to don't burn anything.
Any advice would be welcome.

Its the same rectifier as my '84 6hp (and many others as well)

You should see three yellow wires (one will have a blue stripe and one a grey stripe) a red wire and a black wire from the fixing bolt all going to a nearby terminal strip. The yellows are the AC into the rectifier the red and black are the DC out. So red to positive and black to negative.

If you want to be cautious check the ouput on the red and black with a voltmeter first.

DO NOT get the battery the wrong way round or the rectifier will be fried instantly!

You'll only get 5 amps maximum and you'll only get that at high revs. IMHO as a charging source on a sail boat its hardly any better than useless. Buy a small solar panel!
