Changing Water Pump, do I need face setting tool?

hi i just ordered a water pump kit and it got here today. I just noticed it doesnt come with the face seal installation tool in the kit. how can i install the o-ring on top of the housing without the tool?

Do you mean the cup seal on the shaft atop the impeller housing?

Pull up on the shaft, push the seal down until the lip just touches the housing evenly all around.
