Ok guys
I changed the oil in my bayliner. OMC cobra drive.
basically I opened the small plug at the bottom of the drive right by the bottom fin. let it drain for 1 day. opened up the top cover where the dipstick is and filled it up. let it sit for a couple of hours and filled it again. I let it sit overnight and then filled it again 2more times. When i filled it it didnt take a ton but overall it took something liek 4 quarts or so. i dont really know cause i was using a 1 gallon can.
Either way I let it sit until it got to the point where the oil level wouldnt drop anymore . took about 2 days total. I used 70-90W if I remember right is what the manual called for.
The manual tells me to fill in a area mid way on the drive there is a small plug on the side ( right side)
and it tells me to fill it up there.
Did I fill it right or do I need to fill it on the side fill hole also?
Thanx
Rob

Re: Changing oil

You need to drain that outdrive from the bottom hole.

You fill it from the middle screw, near the cavitation (anti) plate

When it appears on the dipstick, run it,and recheck the level.

Now if your drive is newer than 1990 things are different.

70 to 90W doesn't sound close to what is reccommended
