Engine: 2005 Mercuiser Turn Key Start, Alpha One Gen 2 Drive Serial: 0W356097

Issue: When I accelerate gradually from idle up and onto the plane I hit a dead spot at about 1,400 to 2,000 rpm. The boat literally wants to stop and stall and some times does. If I throttle past this rpm point quickly I don't have this issue at all.

Idle is set at 700rpm and boat doesnt run on at all (used to prior to reducing idle and richening idle mixture).
Timing is fine.

I've got my hands on a carb rebuild kit including float and was wondering if someone could run me through the best way to go about putting the kit through the carb.

Cheers,

Chris

i've never worked on your rig. so. not knowing the facts, i'd start with the mercruiser service manual. choose yours here. find the section on carb rebuild and go from there following the instructions. assemble to specs for your carb.

i'd think a good soaking in carb cleaner would be a good idea. also used compressed air at the minimum to blow out all small passages in the carb while it's disassembled.....

Most common cause is plugged or worn out accelerator pump.

Thanks for the response guys,

Well looks like If I pull the carb take my time and lay it all out on a tidy work area I should be ok.... :)

I am having the same problem. Did the carb rebuild fix the issue?

You need to start a thread of your own Fleefish, even if it did fix his problem, it doesn't mean that's what is causing yor problem.
