can't find model number

Looking at what looks like an early 80's 35hp long shaft evinrude. Guy says the model number is E0098862. Can't find it anywhere. Anybody know what year it is?

If anything, that's just the serial number.

Call BRP customer service with that #. Maybe they can tell you what it is.

I told him it looked like a serial number and the model number should start with 35. He is going to recheck today. Wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Thanks again.
