Can you over inflate an inflatable boat?

I have a 12ft avon inflatable with 3 air chambers and a keel.My friend has a higher spec boat with pressure release valves. Are these valves important or would I not need them or basically can I over inflate an inflatable? Many thanks Murphoir.......

I have no experience with inflatable boats but I would imagine that anything that holds compressed air can be overinflated to the point of failure.

Not sure if your average sized air compressor could generate enough pressure or not but I think your wise trying to find out.

I would imagane and overinflated boat taking the force of a wave on it could be a problem. The high end boat puts a pressure relief valve on there for some reason. There must be a recommended fill pressure by the manufacturer.
