BUCCANEER Aluminum Boat?

Friends,

I have found a 14 foot aluminum "open fisherman", which sides back by the stern read BUCCANEER III. - After trying several internet search engines, I find ZILCH on this boat.
(The current owner thinks that the hull is a 1958 model. The OB is a 1958 twelve HP GALE 12D17B and it's on a 1958 Dilly trailer.)

Does anyone know anything about this boat?

THANKS.

yours, satx

The 1958 Crestliner Buccaneer 15 was available as an 'open' Model 601:

which is the middle graphic w/a 40" bow cover.

Maybe?

Re: BUCCANEER Aluminum Boat?

jbcurt00,

Well the 601 sort of looks like the Buccaneer III, except that the little fisherman is a foot shorter, considerably narrower in the beam & different in the stern, so I just don't know.
(Of course, most "tin open fishermen" look SIMILAR.)
Also, I would be stunned if the 14ft was rated for more than 20-25HP.

I wonder if the Crestliner Buccaneer had a "little brother"???

THANKS for your answer.

Re: BUCCANEER Aluminum Boat?

I thank you for trying anyway. I wonder if this hull is a "knock-off" of some major maker's boat?????
(As you know, there are MANY "splashes" of fiberglass runabouts & utilities. - Like REDFISH was usually a "knock-off" of GLASTRON.)
OR
An example of some "little regional builder" that didn't last long, like my HURRICANE PLASTICS of Houston, TX utility that went TU in about 7 months.
(I have a "laundry list" of well over 50 "Texas Small & Independent Boat-builders". - I would be stunned if more than one other person here has ever heard of PLEASANT BOATWORKS, as they made TWO runabouts before closing forever in 1956.)

Re: BUCCANEER Aluminum Boat?

To ALL,

Right now I'm trying (so far, with LITTLE success!) to buy the SOLE remaining runabout made by Pleasant Boatworks.
(The other boat was "chain-sawed" & "hauled off" about 2 decades ago.)
