I noticed the braided stainless steel wire that connects the transom to the right ram is snapped. Tried to back the torx bold on the bottom of the transom and it broke off. How critical is the wire? We run mainly in fresh water and ocassionally some brackish water.

Can is just run a self tapping screw in to re-attach it? Are there supposed to be additional continuity wires?

It helps, but is not critical (IMO) if you have fresh anodes on the outdrive and trim rams. There should be several continuity wires to insure electrical bonding of the outdrive components.

IMO, the better everything is bonded together the less chance of things other then the anodes being sacrificed. So IF you leave the boat in the water and plugged in, then do what ever you can to keep the bonding together. If you do not plug in, then it is of little importance

Excellent. No shore power on this boat. We use a mooring a never leave it in longer than a few weeks at a time.
