looking for a good battery charger.
The 3 year old Promariner ProSport 20
recently stopped working. There are no lights on the unit and the outlet does have power. Unit located in a dry houseboat engine compartment. Just a few days ago there was a pretty big storm with some power outages. does anyone know if there is an internal fuse which can be replaced?
Trying to get info from Promariner but it seems impossible.

Charger only good for 2 years. If unit fails throw it away per service tech!
I could be a service tech.

Pretty typical......most electronics are built using surface mount technology.
Surface mount cost less to produce, but it's also not repairable.
To repair you replace.

You would think with today's technology things like this shouldn't happen.
I guess it is probably dueto the Covid virus.

There is a reason those are low cost compared to others. Time to replace it.
I thought the one he blew up was over priced.

A battery charger consist of a $12 transformer and $10 PCB. The hardware (enclosure, switches and cables) cost more than the electronics.

Can’t comprehend what you would paying more for unless you get longer warranty.

Any electronic gear exposed to power problems (dirty power, brownouts, surges) can be messed up if are not protected. My guess is the circuit was not protected and as a result, the storm fried the unit. I wouldn't call that a failure on the part of the manufacturer.
