You must live in a cold climate of course, but go to any battery graveyard, and look for the sides of the batteries bulging out.....thats a freeze

batteries are staying in boat, connected. Whats the worst. Buy two new batteries.. whooooo $80.. thats the least of my worries.

I prefer to disconnect all cables from the + post except for the bilge pump and top them off with a full charge once a month. You (usually)don't want rodents to eat thru any wires and end up causing a fire. Also important to keep starting batteries from being drained completely, they won't hold a full charge after that like a deepcycle can.
