1987 150 mariner serial 0b117357 I'm going to order a stator, under 900 RPM runs on 3 cylinders, runs good beyond, I've not done a voltage check however I have done an ohm check, all disconnected from the switch box, my blue/white reads 125,000 ohm's. My question is why does it run good over 1000 RPM?. Spark check shows bad on one bank, 3 cyl. People have mentioned they could be a 16 amp stator or a 40 amp, however the sale people say as per serial number it could only be a 16, I was just thinking I'd like to order prior to removing.
Thanks

There are two sets of coils on your stator. Theres a high speed coil and a low speed coil for each switch box. If you arent getting spark at low RPM...Tada...Low speed coil. You have a 16 amp system.
The Mercury number for the 16 amp stator is 398-5454A35. They run about $175

Well since it's not working at low speed and resistance is off the chart, I would say that it's the low. And yes, spec for that is 5000-7000 ohms.
