auto meter tach

my factory tach pooped the bed and i had to disconect it at the coil it was a grey wire the boat runs a 5.7 . I have a auto meter tach i want to toss in the hole for now any reason this would not work or anything i need to be aware of ?

only downside is the harsh environment of a boat will cause a short life span on an automotive instrument. Otherwise, should work just fine.
