AQ170C Exhaust Manifold Repair Pics

Hey guys. Last week i took off the exhaust manifold and noticed a decent size hole on the bottom, check the pics. I took it to a welder guy last week and he said he could fix it for about 150. Well i call the guy today and now it will be another week (he's out of town for couple days) and about $250 to fix this. I don't really wanna spend this much on this.

I was thinking of using some sort of high heat epoxy/bondo, feasible?
Around what temps do you think the exhaust is at or around that place in the manifold?
Any suggestions on how to fix this, besides welding?

Just a thought, i think i might try to take the end off(part with the hole), then i'm gonna try and find the epoxy which needs oven-cure, any thoughts?

Welding cast iron is difficult enough. Welding rotten cast iron may be near impossible. Epoxies may work for a while, but will eventually fail.

I would scrutinize the manifold with crossed fingers. If it's rotted out, the cost of a replacement exhaust manifold for this engine could very well be more than your boat is worth.

Thanks Rogers. I'm going to patch it up for the rest of the season with PC Farenheit epoxy which works with temps up to 500.
Next spring i'll buy a new elbow.
