aq170a cooling idea input needed

So I?m thinking of putting in a way to flush my aq170a motor without using ear muff?s as it is in the ocean only. on the inlet tube I was going to put a ball valve with a tee and a hose fitting so I can just hook up a hose to the motor turn the ball valve closed so water doesn?t go out the outdrive the when I?m done shut off motor turn open ball valve and flush salt water out the outdrive then cap off the hose fitting . Any thoughts ? Is this a Good idea or is there something in the lower unit that needs water?
