I just cleaned up and painted most of my outdrive and transom plate. I am installing all new aluminum anodes. Do I need to scrap the paint off were they connect to the outdrive or will the screw/bolt secure the contact good enough so that they function properly? If I do need to scrap paint off how much should I remove?<br />Thanks

Re: Anodes installation

depends on the bolt, the anode and the drive.

Re: Anode keeps falling off

I have a Mercruise I/O and have tried replacing the zinc anode (2 Times...) This style is a flat round plate with a fin hanging about 2 inches down and angled. I thought I screwed it in sufficiently however I have lost 2 in the last 2 weeks.

I can;t figure out how to get the bolt out in order to try replacing that as well as a the zinc. - any ideas???

Start a new thread bob, don't just tack on to someone elses thread.
You also need to include rather you have an Alpha I or and Alpha I Gen II drive. If you don't know, include the year.
