My boat has been stored for the two years. When I drained the out drive oil I got more sludge than oil and some water as well. I have changed the impeller and all seals. Is there a way to flush out the remaining oil or should I just run it with fresh oil and change it after a couple hours of run time.

Re: Alpha One

I use Quicksilver High Performance Gear Lube in my Alpha One. It is really good stuff that is supossed to protect the unit if a but water does get inside. It is kind of spendy, but worth it.
I have flushed my Alpha just by draining the whole system and then spraying WD 40 in the top hole. Let it drain real well and fill the system with drain lube and then drain it again....and refill. It is kind of a waste of lube, but in my opinion a lot cheaper then a new drive.

Re: Alpha One

Chances are, corrosion to bearings will cause failure fairly soon...like Bondo said.
