Hi,
I have to replace my Gimbal Bearing but I am unable to get the upper housing of my Mercruiser Alpha One off. After looseing the six nuts securing it, I can only move it back about an inch. I have tried everything I could think of to loosen it including prying from behind the drive with a board and dropping the drive (with the trim cylinders off) in hopes of freeing it. Any ideas I can try?
Thanks!
Ron

Great ideas, I didn't even think of that. I tried that method and it popped right off.

Thanks to you both!
