Although there maybe 12-14" of snow on the ground, we've had a mild winter in the Mid Hudson Area,..normally this time of year the Hudson is frozen over solid with the exception of a single shipping lane.
Here's a south bound tug/tanker (empty),...clipping along at a good pace with the outgoing tide + current,... more than likely heading to re-fuel at the Newburgh terminal.
Hopefully this means boating season will start in March,...two years ago in mid March, (usually the beginning of the striper run) the river was froze over solid!!,.. the striper will hold up down south till the water temps reach 48-50 degrees,. then make their run...late run that year! Global warming,...yea right !!
Way up here in the Great white north also known a Edmonton. We have barely any snow left on the ground. Temps in the past week ranged from plus 2 to a record high of 17 Celsius. Cant complain
Indeed it has been a easy winter in many parts of the country....Mother nature has been known to throw a monkey wrench into people's early boating plans.
