In practice, I believe your rhetorical question won't be a problem. You're clearly not cruising in Canadian waters during that trip. You are going from one place to another, regardless of where you began the day and will end the day. You're more or less hugging the border and not sight-seeing in the Admiralty Group or taking in a service at Half Moon Bay.

UPDATE....Just returned from 10 days on the River.

The "tourists" that didn't read this thread didn't know from nuthin....The "Locals" that live there all said its "business as usual" and don't be stupid and do sumthin stupid.

In fact, we went thru the Rift and such evry day and had no issues. We saw one NYSP boat and he was doing a courtesy tow on a Canadian boat, no less. We never saw a Canadian patrol any day ever.
