I thought of an idea to fix my excess steering play on my alpha gen ii outdrive, without disassembly of the gimbal housing. How about using epoxy? I could turn the drive all the way to one side to expose the free play then place a dam above the drive and below the bottom end of the steering shaft. Next, I could inject an epoxy (1600 psi tensile strength) into the top of the gimbal ring filling the free space between the gimbal ring and the steering shaft. After giving it 24 to 48 hours to set it should hopefully remove or reduce free play in the steering system. I know this my not be a permanent fix but i can buy more epoxy if this works even in the slightest. You experts out there please let me know if this will not work cause I am planning on trying it in the morning. Thanks to all!
