94 suzuki dt75 loud exhaust

took out this weekend ran fine when slowing down to idle loud exhaust noise--any suggestions

I would start looking for an exhaust leak on the exhaust cover over the ports or the exhaust tube in the middle unit or the powerhead gasket at the base of the engine. If its louder than usual you have leak somewhere. Make sure the noise wasn't coming from an engine that was trimmed up to high. Was this your first time with the engine or have you had it a while?

had boat for about a year and was not yhis loud--it does have a hyd jack plate so i will check that the motor is trimmed down---also when first cranking there is a little exhaust smoke coming out from under the cowling

My guess is that the smoke and the extra noise are not a coincidence. Look for the exhaust leak at the exhaust cover or at the bottom of the powerhead.
