Having no one to assist me, I am trying to crank my engine singlehanded so that I can check my timing.

Is there any connection I can make (safely) perhaps using a car jumper lead direct from the battery to assist with this?

Thanks for any suggestions.

+12V to the yellow wire on the starter solenoid will energize the solenoid. Use a jumper wire from the (+) terminal of the battery, or jump from the battery side of the solenoid to the small yellow terminal. I made my own starting switch for this purpose (an automotive remote starting switch will work, too).

When you're checking timing, be sure to pull all the spark plugs, stick them back in the boots, then ground them firmly to the block.

Since you'll be in Fwd gear when checking/adjusting maximum spark advance, use caution around the prop which will also be spinning.

Many thanks for your advice.
This forum is brilliant!
PS - Any tips please on how to "ground plugs firmly to block" - string, sticky tape?
