I did a few searches and didn't find what I was looking for, so my apologies if this is a repeat/duplicate thread.

I have a 4 year old yamaha 90 2-smoke. it runs like a top all day long at any throttle setting other than idle. at idle, it coughs and sneezes and after around 10 secs will konk out.

my friends' suggestions have ranged from using Yamaha Ring-Free or SeaFoam to a disassembly/cleaning/rebuild of the carbs.

Any suggestions? And does anyone know of a step by step resource for taking apart and cleaning outboard carbs?

Thanks all!

Take the carbs off (make mental not of what goes where) soak the carbs in carb cleaner then blow out everything and all jets with compressed air ....
