Just picked up an '88 starcraft with a 28hp evinrude. The boat had been sitting for the past 10 years so just wondering what I should inspect on the motor before attempting to hook it up to a battery. Thanks guys.

Id definitely drop the lower unit and start it with that off with the hose hooked up to the intake tube.
If the motor runs ok on that then do the water pump.
Dont use the one in there currently as the water pump parts are perished and will break up and shoot into the engine
Definitely lube up the cylinders before moving a thing
