'85 Johnson seahorse Long 9.9 2stroke@correct water pump kit

So i Bought the kit with housing and everything, get home and it says its for a 9.9/15 -1992 and newer in the instruction.
Is this kit identical to the kit for the earlier mid eighties 9.9/15 like mine???
I was specific at the marine supply store (45min Drive)
ive looked on here and elsewhere but cannot confirm. TIA

Should be the same. Take your motor apart and compare. They used the same lower unit for over 25 yrs. Most of those kits are listed for 1974 and up.

try this link, once you find the part for yours, you can compare it to the one you bought
just make sure to change the drop down menu in the top left corner to Johnson, as it defaults to evinrude
