My 8 Hp will only run at idle if the choke rod is pulled out a small amount. The rod is connected to a cylinder(primer?) that has hoses going to the crankcase and the carb--there is no choke butterfly. I cleaned the carb it did help. The engine runs fine at all other throttle positions above idle. Could there be an air leak?
Thanks
Lakeguy72

Lakeguy....when ya' cleaned out the carb, did you blow out each passage with carb cleaner and follow up with air? Could still have some gunk laying around.

Also, turn the low speed needle out some and see if that helps.

It doesn't seem to matter where the idle screw is. I tried it the usual 1.5 turns out to around 6 turns out and the result is the same. I did blow out the passageways as best as I could. I removed everything that was removable.
Thanks
Lakeguy72
