8 hp Johnson 1989 oil fill lower unit

Rebuilt water pump.. dumped gear lube while chamber was open..<br /><br />water pump works fine.. but gear unit did not take that much new lube.. top over flow plug is out when filling , but can't get lube up to flow out of top plug... can't squeeze bottle..seems unit is sealed from top over flow outlet??<br /><br />advise pls... tx ken

Sounds like you are doing it right, Ken. <br /><br />Are you pumping the oil into the lower (drain) hole and watching the top (vent) hole for overflow?

JB.. b4 water pump repair lube over flow out of top worked fine.. going to try sticking a wire in top hole..<br /><br />ken
