Long story short, engine comes out of gear at speed. My resolution was to turn the clutch dog around as I've seen multiple places where this trick will work.
The problem, when I took the gearcase apart I lost track of which way the clutch dog was originally turned (the gearcase is factory fresh and has never been opened). It has an o-ring on one end of the clutch dog.
My question is - on the undistrubed gearcase - does the oring end of the clutch dog face the forward or reverse gear???? (from the parts diagram - the forward gear is the one furthest back in the gearcase)
Please help - I don't want to risk installing it the way it was, and I'm too cheap to buy a new dog, when turning the old one may solve my problem for free.
