Pulled the carbs apart today. The top carb was first & when I pulled the seat out. There was a rubber seal under it. Looked like a pass through grommet. Under the rubber grommet is a copper looking washer which looks like a flare seat. It does not want to budge so I stopped digging at it, and went to the next two carbs, no rubbers & perfectly flat copper washers (one per carb) like in the rebuild kits.

Is this something that should be????? I dont think so, Looks like someones improper repair to me.

I will try to remove the distorted copper looking washer from the top carb unless someone speaks up otherwise.

Ok I cant get the copper gasket to move, If I keep digging it will be damaged beyond use, I guess I'll try it with the old gasekt & see what happens. Here are some pics although not very clear.

Also there were 2 cork gaskets in the tops of the filter bowls, should there be two gaskets in this location?

The original inlet needles were nylon and the seats were rubber with a brass center, if memory serves. The replacements are brass seats and neopreme tipped stainless needles. The new seats have that copper washer under them. I would dig everything out of the seat area down to aluminum and install new copper washers and new seats and needle sets. Replace the floats if they are the original foam or the replacement hard plastic ones are cracked. There should be a single cork washer under and over the banjo fittings, I would think.

if the cork gaskets are with the fuel strainer there should be two. one on the top and one on the bottom of the strainer in the bowl.
Hope that helps

There were three total. Two on top & one under. I only used one at each location.

One of the bolts snapped when I was tighting it. I might have overtorqued it, no it was only shinny on about 1/3 of the bolt cross section. I am wondering if I should replace all three (one per carb).

The bolt did not break off completely. When it "popped" I thought for sure the filter base/needle & seat housing boss had broken off.

I was SO happy to see the broken bolt!

All three pics same bolt.

You appear to be stronger than you look. Take it easy on those little bolts. Is there supposed to be a nylon washer under the heads of the boat? I cannot remember.
