Has anyone heard if converting amplifier and coil system to coil/resistor/condenser system was successful? I hear of a lot of success initially, but the posters seem to stop posting, seems as if they have given up.
I hear of problems like;
Burning points
Dead batteries because of Amp draw
Timing issues
Oil filled vs. Epoxy filled coils
Low voltage to coil at startup...ect

Re: 68'/69' JohnnyRude 55hp ignition conversion

Am I beating a dead horse? I know this topic has come up a few times. I am open for any comments, I will be reparing my outboard this winter with a conversion or with expensive aftermarket parts, just need a few ideas. Thanks for being such a great resource.

Check other posts on this forum as I've seen some info on this.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page...there are several threads that deal with this issue under "similar threads".

I had the same motor for 35+ years and stayed with the original ignition layout.
