'63 Seahorse 10hp operating temp?

Hi, I just rebuilt my water pump, and am getting ready to test it in a tank. It has a 143?F thermostat. Question is, what kind temp readings should I be getting If I shoot the powerhead with an infared thermometer?

top of power head near heads 140-160*

You should be able to touch the head for a few seconds if it's ok. Or splash a few drops of water on the head. It should not sizzle off...
