Hi Forum,
I have a "new to me" Johnson 6HP Sailmaster, model J6SLCOB, 1985. There is a black knob, located close to the transom clamps of engine. When put in one position, it locks the motor to the cross shaft, effectively locking it in that position, when the knob is turned to the opposite position, it allows the motor to freely tilt up or down. Could someone explain to me the proper operation of this knob, when using the motor, as I do not have an operators manual for the motor.
