Need to find out if your working with pre BIA or post BIA wiring. I would start first by ringing out the engine harness connector. Put one probe of the ohm meter in a pin and go around trying to find which wire is connected
A is yellow and red -
ALT to Reg (not used)
B Is purple and yellow -
Slave relay to Coil +
C is brown and the longest -
Water Temp, pin 3
D is the largest and red -
Bat at Starter post to Circuit breaker
Sense is lighter red -
Should be Red/Purple going to Circuit breaker, pin 6
Output is faded orange -
Tied in at starter or slave relay with Red/Purple
Red and purple/yellow went to positive coil -
Red resistance wire, Pur/Yel other end Slave relay to coil +
E brown or dirty purple i "think" went to positive coil but not sure. -
Brown and shift interrupt switch
F is grey -
Negative coil
G is green -
See what pin it goes to, if no connection to engine plug could be Green/White to trim solenoid or if pin 8 then oil pressure sender
H is black -
Ground
I is 2 wires together red and other is tan or faded orange? -
See if Red goes to pin 4
J is a purple that is capped off. Maybe for choke?
Which my new carb has - Agree to choke
I forgot to mention, I will be using a
Starter that has solenoid attached to it.
This harness Was wired for one without.
I would suggest getting a slave solenoid and wiring it in also
