I've got a 1991 4.3L Mercruiser that is having some idling issues. The first start of the day, it fired right up in neutral without having to give it any throttle and idled there for a few minutes while I let the TWRA guy retrieve and trailer his boat. The boat ran great for probably an hour or two, but eventually started having idling problems. The boat wouldn't start without giving it quite a bit of throttle and wouldn't idle at all. As soon as I would get it started, I'd drop it down to idle and it would instantly stall. I could smell a hint of gas like it was possibly flooding the carb, but I can't 100% tell. I'm going to check to see if the plugs are fouled up on Wednesday, hopefully not as their brand new but it should be telling. I was wondering though if there is anything else I should check while i'm poking around.
OH, a little more information... It wasn't old gas, I filled up right before I put in. I did read though there is an issue with the 3.0 with the 10% ethanol, but i'm not sure if that issue is also occurring with the 4.3's.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated guys.
