Hello, I am re-powering a 1983 260 Cris Craft. I purchased a long block, It came with a gasket set. I am trying to put on the intake manifold, but in the gasket set are 4 little metal restricter plates that look as if they are to fit the water passages , but there is nothing about them on the instruction sheet.
Do i need to use the resticter plates on the intake manifold installation.

Ayuh,... I'd sooner think they're for the heat riser passages under the carb....

Donno if your motor/ intake manifold need 'em, or Not...

Yes they are for the heat riser passages (the square holes dead center of manifold gaskets) used mainly in auto apps. Not needed in a boat. 'nutcase

The exhaust passages from the cylinder head to the intake manifold were designed to heat the intake manifold on cold startup. Installing the blocking plates will keep the intake manifold a little cooler. These plates will usually burn through in a year of daily engine use.
