I'm thinking the problem may be in the connectors. I had an issue with my trim not working, and rang out the wires between the connector going to from the throttle. Found the wires were good, the problem was the connection between the pin on the connector to the wire was broken. I could pull on the wire and it felt solid but would not pass current. Your main engine plug may have a similar issue. Check between each pin and the end of the wire by measuring resistance.
