been lurking here awhile but need some help now.i have an 87 rinker with a 3.0 in it. first time start up from storage last weekend and i couldnt get any fuel to feed the carb. i pulled the line that feeds the pump and turned it over and there was nothing. pulled the pump out and tore it down, some gelled moisture in there so i cleaned it out and inspected it.diaphram looked good but not a drop of fuel. put the pump back on and filled the line with fuel then some in the carb, turned it over it fired right up and ran for awhile with no issues at all.im thinking pump is screwed.any thoughts? thanks

Re: 3.0 fuel pump issue

How were the valves in the pump? All it needs is a tiny spot of rust and they stop working... Did you put a rebuild kit in it? And if so, did that include the valves?

Re: 3.0 fuel pump issue

Try a different fuel source.Run a hose from the fuel pump into a gallon of gas and see if it runs. There may be a blockage in the tank or a stuck anti-siphon valve.
