Not sure of the year but, SER.# oc172636 . The motor has to be in forward to lift it up is this normal or is there an adjustment so it will tip up in neutral ? It is on a 14' with single lever controls. My first instinct when touching bottom is to shift to neutral but then it won't raise. Bob

That is normal so it will tilt up if you hit something while running. BTW its a 1989

Thank you Bhile . Still does't make since to me that if you shift to neutral you can't tilt your motor up. But I really appreciate the reply.

Up date;; I shortened linkage rod ; now motor tilts up in neutral and forward but not in reverse.Bob

Thats interesting. My buddies 25 Merc has to be in fwd to lift up. I'll have to check that out as we are always forgeting to put it in fwd.
